Is there ever a purchase or piece of jewellery that comes with more expectations than an engagement ring? It’s a statement, a declaration as well as being a deeply personal item that will be worn, looked at and admired for years to come. With all of that in mind, your engagement needs to be perfect so, here’s everything you need to know about designing your engagement ring

Firstly, you need to set a budget. It’s been said many times that an engagement ring should cost a month’s salary but the most important thing is that you spend what’s comfortable to you. We can advise you here if you’d like or work to your budget when designing, just let us know.

Then, it’s time to get down to the really exciting part – actually deciding on the make up of the ring itself. Firstly, what metal will you choose? One of the many gorgeous varieties of gold or maybe stunning platinum? We’d suggest that if you opt for a metal that suits your skin tone and will stand the test of time and you won’t go far wrong.

After that, can we suggest that you arrange your free consultation with Hot Pink and let us guide you through the process of creating your bespoke engagement ring? If you can make it to our design studios in London and Essex, we’d love to see you but if not, our fantastic online consultation is super convenient and super exciting as you’ll literally be able to see your ring appear in front of your eyes!

We’ll send you a link that will allow you to see your designer’s computer screen and they’ll give you call and begin your consultation. As you talk through your options (such as metal, band size, stone, setting and overall design), you’ll see the ring come to life right there on your screen. We can even show you how the ring will look on your hand thanks to some very clever 3d software.

Your ring really needs to speak volumes about you so we’ll also talk through your lifestyle as well as your likes and dislikes. If you love classic elegance, we might suggest a round stone or even an oval for a bit of a modern twist. If that doesn’t look quite right for you, your designer will be able to show you other shape options including the more angular cuts that are so on-trend right now including some beautiful princess cut stones. We’ll be looking at these in more detail in a forthcoming blog so if you don’t know your pear from your marquise, don’t worry; we’re here to help.

When you’re designing your own engagement ring, the options are almost endless. We’ll let you take your time and enjoy every moment of the design process and give you all the help and advice you need to make sure that the finished ring is everything you ever imagined it would be. After all, your engagement ring is the start of the rest of your life.
